‘ONE PUNCH AND YOU’RE DEAD’ – A TALK YOU WILL NEVER FORGET
Jamie Denyer, the Grief Preacher
Our main talk is a very powerful and moving address by a man known as ‘the grief preacher’ – Jamie Denyer.
Jamie tackles very challenging and emotional issues, that will force you to step back, take stock and look at what you need to change in yourself. He will show you, where you need to put your focus and energy, to see what’s truly important.
Jamie has dedicated his life to educating people about the dangers of fighting with fists. He took on the quest, when his nephew, a greatly loved and gifted young man called Connor Saunders, was killed with a single blow while trying to break up a fight between two other men.
In this age of gun and knife crime, there’s a tendency to write off old-fashioned fist fights as being somehow less serious. But Connor was struck without warning by a ‘haymaker’ punch on the side of the head, so had no opportunity to defend himself or soften his landing. Tragically, therefore, that single blow proved fatal.
Connor’s death had a profound effect on that close family, and his uncle Jamie now spends his time campaigning to spread the word about how dangerous it is to fight with bare fists, and what devastating consequences one punch can have, on both the victim and the attacker.
Jamie Denyer speaks in very diverse environments, including schools, college, universities, youth offender institutes, prisons, corporate businesses and premier league football teams. He is also believed to be the only speaker in the world who goes into Traveller communities.
